Review: Hexed

Hexed Hexed by Kevin Hearne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this next installment in the Iron Druid Chronicles. Hearne has a great way of weaving humor into his story. I really loved the characters and can't wait to see what happens next. I highly recommend this series for fans of Jim Butcher's Dresden series. The audio book for this book is fantastic. It is the same narrator as the first and he does a really great job at narrating the book and makes it very easy to follow.

Review: The Viscount Who Lived Down the Lane

The Viscount Who Lived Down the Lane The Viscount Who Lived Down the Lane by Elizabeth Boyle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a super fun read! I really loved the characters. This is the first book I have read by this author but I am going oto have to find the other books in this series. I am very interested to see these characters in the other novels and want to read the first 3 before going onto the next one. I really liked the Viscount and Louisa. Louisa was a very fun heroine and struck me as a bit different, which is refreshing.

Review: A Lady Never Surrenders

A Lady Never Surrenders A Lady Never Surrenders by Sabrina Jeffries
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my favorite book in Jeffries Hellion series. I loved Jackson Pinter as the hero of this novel. What is great is this character has been in the other books and we have gotten to see Celia and Jackson interact before. I liked how the series ended and thought this story was fast paced and fun. I had liked Celia from the start of the series and was interested to see how she did in her own book. I really liked the characters and can't wait to read her next book!

Review: To Wed a Wild Lord

To Wed a Wild Lord To Wed a Wild Lord by Sabrina Jeffries
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really am enjoying this series by Sabrina Jeffries. I really liked the characters in this book. The hero and heroine where well suited and so much fun to read. I also liked the dramatic problem the couple faced. I have a soft spot for series that deal with siblings...but who am I kidding I love interconnecting series and this one is great about having the characters make multiple appearances.

Review: Not Always a Saint

Not Always a Saint Not Always a Saint by Mary Jo Putney
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really loved this book. The hero in this story was a side characters I loved in one of her previous books. Her writing is so much fun and entertaining that you just fly through the book. The only thing I did not like is that the hero, Daniel, did not seem to have any flaws. He was literally a perfect man and as much as I love him, he needed more depth. I think his lack of a flaw made him a bit undeveloped as a character. He did not change throughout the story. But this is still a fun romance for fans of this series.

Review: What to Do with a Duke

What to Do with a Duke What to Do with a Duke by Sally MacKenzie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book. I am very excited about this new series from Sally MacKenzie. Her writing tends to be very fun and delightful. This book is about Cat, who is determined never to marry. The Duke of Hart, who is cured, comes to her village to fulfill the terms of the cured that has plagued his family for 200 years. This minor characters is this book are great and makes you want to learn more about the characters, which should be in the other books in the series. This does not deal with any deep issues. It was very delightful and I could not wait to keep reading it. The main characters are very strong and loving characters. Cat was very well developed and I loved how sassy and fiery she was. But I do have a soft spot fro heroines with a temper. Marcus is a fun and likable hero which I enjoyed. If you love historical romance this is a a fun one.

Review: Some Kind of Normal

Some Kind of Normal Some Kind of Normal by Juliana Stone
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a great companion book to Boys Like You. While they are connected there would be no problem in reading the books out of order. This is the second book and I thought it was well written. I liked the characters and how the author deals with the issues of these two teenagers. I thought the book was believable and held a very good pace through the plot. It was a quick read and I recommend this book for teens and people who love YA.

Review: And We Stay

And We Stay And We Stay by Jenny Hubbard
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book. It was a well written and I really liked the characters. I like when authors also include other authors as a focus which can be very interesting. Emily is sent to a boarding school where Emily Dickinson attended. Weaving Emily's interest in the poet and dealing with her struggles is done in an interesting way. I would highly recommend this book.

Review: Silk and Steel: Tricked Into Marriage, He Vowed Revenge. But Love Had Other Plans..

Silk and Steel: Tricked Into Marriage, He Vowed Revenge. But Love Had Other Plans.. Silk and Steel: Tricked Into Marriage, He Vowed Revenge. But Love Had Other Plans.. by Kat Martin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give this book 3.5 stars. I loved certain aspects of this book. It deals with conditions in asylums at the time, injustices and unfair treatment of women, and marriage in that time period. I wished the book had better flow. It looses a bit of focus about half way through. There were also some plot points that actually were not need and I think slowed the plot. I really liked the characters in the book. Her character development was really good. Certain aspects of the book were very predictable, but I didn't have too much of a problem with that. It feels like Kat Martin tried to do to much in this book. But it is still a decent read and I do recommend it.

Review: What You Left Behind

What You Left Behind What You Left Behind by Jessica Verdi
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I give this book 2 stars. I was hoping to like this book more than I did. Ryden is struggling with his senior year, work, and a new baby. His girlfriend Meg got pregnant while battling cancer and has passed away. So Ryden is also dealing with her death. I was really excited about readying a YA book with a male narrator, especially from the perspective of a teen dad. The main character felt a bit forced to me. While he had a lot on his plate he didn't seem to have many redeeming qualities which made it hard for me to care about him. I really liked the development of the side characters. The author did a really great job with the characters rotating around Ryden. I would have liked to see a bit more of their struggle and interactions. The plot was ok. I felt that as the book built to a climax then when we got there it took a complete turn. Usually that is not a problem but I felt a bit lost after reaching the climax. The story does deal with some important teen issues and the author deals with some of them in an authentic way. I would have loved to see an epilogue at the end. But even without the epilogue I did enjoy then ending and thought the author wrapped up the story well. This book just came out August 1st. *I received an e-ARC of Snow Prints from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*

Review: Boys Like You

Boys Like You Boys Like You by Juliana Stone
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I thought this book was great. I was very deep and insightful on the issues the main characters where going through. I thought all the characters were developed in a way that really made you care for them and I wanted to know what happened to them. This is a great book for teens and deals with issues most teens are also dealing with. The plot was well paced and was not overly predictable. I highly recommend this one.
