Snow Prints by May Williams

Snow Prints This book book deals with issues of abandonment and mistakes from the past. I really enjoyed this romance novel. It is a contemporary romance about Adrien who wants to woo Gracie. The two of them had been best friends in high school and had a falling out. Adrien has been in love with Gracie since high school and now that he is living down the hall from her he is determined to win her heart. Gracie is an ER nurse raising her 7 year old son, Brett. I love the relationships that are built between the different characters very entertaining. You believe the relationships and even the minor characters are very entertaining. I can not wait to see what else this author writes. I am very interested in reading the rest of this series. *I received an e-ARC of Snow Prints from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Trail of Kisses by Merry Farmer

Trail of Kisses by Merry Farmer I received a free copy of this book to judge for RomCon. I liked this book. I thought it was interesting to set it on The Oregon Trail. I liked the hero of the story. I wish he had been a little more developed, I thought he was a bit flat. I also did not really care for the heroine of the story. I liked her more around the last 50 pages of the book. I actually wish the book had been a bit longer and the the author taken more time to develop some of the characters and the relationship between Lynne and Cade. I wanted to see a bit more interaction between then that would have made their relationship just a bit more believable. Like I said in the beginning I thought the setting was interesting and brought back all the games of The Oregon Trail I played as a kid. I am interested in reading the next installment of the series because I was very interested in the couple the next book is going to focus on.

Seducing the Ruthless Rogue by Tammy Jo Burns

I received a free copy of this to judge for Rom Con. I love historical fiction, so I was very excited to receive this book. This is the first book I have read by Tammy Jo Burns. I really enjoyed this book. I think thing the setting was done well. I liked the characters and I loved how they interacted with each other. I did feel some of the characters where mildly inconsistent and it was hard to understand some of their motivations. I would have liked to see more development to some of portions of the story line. I was concerned with how quickly some of the conflicts were solved and the last third of the book I was not sure where the author was going with the story. I liked the ending and want to read more books by this author.

As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes

Now I am biased. The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies and I have read the book. On Twitter the first line in my bio is The Dread Pirate of Twitter. My Tumblr is actually titled The Dread Pirate of Tumblr. So I am already in love with the book and the movie. I actually preordered this book once I found out about it because I was so excited about it. Generally I struggle with non-fiction and thought when I read this it would take me a little while to get through it. I read this book in two days. It is not a very long book, about 245 pages, which I actually appreciated. This book was beautifully written. I loved the writing style and I how he told stories. What I also loved about this book was that throughout the whole book there are boxes with interviews from the actors, writer, director, ect. The blurbs relate to what he is discussing in the book. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about them, but I actually really liked the different perspectives and stories throughout. If you are a fan of the movie you have to read this book. It is full of heartfelt stories and perspectives of the movie

Dead City Review

Dead City by James Ponti This book is on the Sunshine State list for 2014-2015. It is about Molly, a seventh grader, who attends MIST. MIST is a school for gifted students and where he mother went to school. She doesn't have many friends and hangs out at the morgue where her mom worked before she passed away. All that changes when she is recruited to join a team of Zombie hunters called Omegas. The story is about her building relationships and learning what she needs to be a member of the team. I really enjoyed this book. It was a really fun adventure story. I loved Molly and the choices she makes really make a lot of sense. I liked that the we got to see this story from her perspective so you get to really understand how the character feels. It wasn't a scary book so it is good for kids. This is the first book the sequel is Blue Moon. I also loved the first page of this book!

The Doll Bones by Holly Black This book is about three kids who acquire a haunted doll. Zach, Poppy, and Alice have been friends for a long time and they decide to go on a quest to discover who the ghost girl who is visiting and communicating with Poppy is and hat happened to her. This is a great coming of age story. The kids are in the painful stage of changing and growing up. When it is time to focus on becoming who you are and to start putting away childish things. They all struggle with what they want to do and what they feel they should be doing. You watch the characters grow and discover more about themselves and each other. They are trying to navigate through their changing relationships and trying to help and understand the ghost. This was a good middle grades book. It was a bit creepy and if you have someone who isn't a big fan of dolls this book is not for them. I loved that the book had some illustrations to go with it. They were very well done and they were so beautifully done. I took the book out of my school's library and plan on buying my own copy of the book. I enjoyed everything about this book.

Sleepy Hollow: Children of the Revolution by Keith DeCandido

Sleepy Hollow: Children of the Revolution by Keith DeCandido I am a big fan of the T.V. show. When I saw this as an option on the Blogging for Books site I was excited to give it a chance. I really liked the writing style for this book. It definitely had the same feel and mood for the T.V. show. The plot was interesting but I at times I wasn't quite sure where it fit into the season. But the back of the book as an explanation of how the book fits between the episodes “The Golem” and “The Vessel.” The problem I had with this book was that it was structured just like the T.V. show. There were a lot of flash backs for numerous characters and I felt that slowed the book down. While this works great in the T.V. show, in the book I felt it pulled me away from the current story and I wanted to know how that went. The flashbacks where really not that necessary. It also made some of the scenes a bit confusing. So I liked the book for the most part. I gave 3 out of 5 stars to this book. If you are a fan of the show you will probably find it entertaining. I got this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review.
